Unable to register the Dll: Reg Svr 32 failed with exit code 0x3"

If you recieved this error or something similar, including a reference to unable to registerer mainmediaaudiopitch.dll, it is likely that this is caused by something caused Data Execution Prevention.  This is predominantly an issue with Vista machines, but also has been seen on XP.

To fix this problem please do the following:

 VISTA MACHINES

 

1.      Click Start

2.      Select Control Panel

3.      Select System

4.      Click the Advanced tab

5.      In the Performance region select Settings

6.      Click the Data Execute tab in the dialog box that opens

7.      Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select

8.      Click Add.

9.      The open dialog box will open. Browse to your Windows/System32/ folder and select regsvr32.exe.

10.  Click Open

11.  Click Apply

12.  Click Ok

13.  Uninstall VideoSurgeon

14.  Reboot

15.  Reinstall Video Surgeon

 

 

XP MACHINES

  1. Go to your Desktop
  2. Right Click MY COMPUTER
  3. Select Properties
  4. Select System Properties
  5. Select the “Advanced” tab
  6. Look for Performance section, and click Settings button in this section
  7. Click the tab at top called Data Execution Prevention

  8. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select
  9. Click Add
  10. The open dialog box will open. Browse to your Windows/System32/ folder and select regsvr32.exe
  11.  Click Open
  12. Click Apply
  13. Click Ok
  14. Uninstall VideoSurgeon
  15. Reboot
  16. Reinstall Video Surgeon
